Group Chair

Do you have good management skills and are self-motivated? Then this role is for you.

As the chair of trustees in a Scout Group, you will manage the governance meetings. This is called “the Group Executive Committee” and you will work with the Group Scout Leader to ensure the Scout Group operates within the rules of the Scout Association and the provisions of the charities act.

This sounds quite formal and to a certain extent it must be, but the committee is usually made up of parents of the children or friends of the Scout Group so it can be quite relaxed.

This role is ideal for someone who may not necessarily wish to work directly with the young people but would still like to help to provide behind the scenes support.

No formal training is necessary as you will receive support from the Group Scout Leader and where needed from other Trustees.
